Liphook Equine Hospital is one of the largest specialist equine veterinary practices in the UK and is dedicated to providing your clients’ animals with the very best treatment and care.
We provide comprehensive ambulatory and referral equine veterinary service around the clock. We offer both an ambulatory equine service staffed by a team of experienced and dedicated equine vets as well as a fully equipped equine referral hospital complete with comprehensive on-site laboratory facilities.
The hospital is led by eleven RCVS and European specialists supported by a team of residents and interns thereby offering a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
The hospital is also staffed around the clock by a large team of qualified equine veterinary nurses, student nurses and nursing assistants.

We will support you with readily available advice on cases, even if they are not referred, free verbal reporting of radiographs and educational resources such as a regular CPD programme, a regular newsletter and downloadable information sheets on our website.
We are very happy for you to visit us and we welcome colleagues who want to ‘see practice’.
We recognise that there are many different reasons to refer a case and we are always happy to discuss a case with you prior to committing to a referral.

Our large equine hospital provides:

Stabling for up to 50 horses, including mare and foal boxes, isolation boxes and turn out paddocks

A dedicated intensive care unit for up to 12 critically ill patients, including mare and foal boxes

Large ménage with dedicated trot up and lunging areas

Advanced equine diagnostic imaging equipment, including computed tomography (CT), scintigraphy, two digital radiography suites, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging

3-chip videoarthroscopy

Storz laparoscopy/thoracoscopy system

AO/ASIF internal fixation kits

Synthes LCP (‘internal fixator’) kits

Air powered equipment for neurosurgery

Large, purpose-built operating theatre, with separate padded knock down and recovery boxes with CCTV monitoring

Advanced anaesthetic monitoring and mechanical ventilation

Gastroscopy, videoendoscopy and overground endoscopy

ECG including 24-hour Holter monitoring

Separate reproduction unit, with 2 large foaling boxes and post and rail turnout

Designated equine laboratory on site enabling us to perform rapid clinical pathology

Full endoscopic foraminotomy for treatment of cervical spinal nerve compression

In order to provide optimal care to the referred horse we request that referring veterinarians should provide us with a full case history for any case they are referring, including the results of any diagnostic procedures they have already undertaken and any treatment or medication that the horse has received.
